Why is a gem asleep?
Only one gem of each kind works on the hero, and no more than 3 gems in permanent sockets and 3 in charmed ones. Of two alike the stronger works and the other sleeps.

Where did my gem go?
Most likely a charm ran out: the gem in the second, charmed socket burns with it. The game warns about this 7 days before, 3 days before and on the last day.

Why am I getting less XP?
In the arena the first 10 fights of a day give full XP; the rest give ×0.25. The same opponent a second time that day gives ×0.5, then ×0.1. A lower-level opponent is worth less, and a replayed level gives just 8.

Why can't I pick my opponent?
Nobody picks an opponent. A one-on-one request gathers applicants for 3–12 seconds and draws lots. In a team fight the game deals the sides even in levels — except a hero’s first team fight: there the hero stands beside a senior.
